CUPFA ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (AUP)
Applications which use CUPFA resources, including Web resources, are subject to the
guidelines established by this CUPFA Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). The intent of this
policy is to clarify a variety of uses which are either acceptable or unacceptable, not to
enumerate all possible uses.
SCOPE
This policy applies to all users of the CUPFA Web Site.
POLICY STATEMENTS
ACCEPTABLE USES
- ACCEPTABLE ACTIVITIES - Activities that conform to the purpose, goals, and mission of
the Department and to each user's authorized job duties and responsibilities.
The following list, although not all-inclusive, provides some examples of acceptable
uses:
- Communications, including information exchange, for professional development or to
maintain knowledge or skills.
- Research and development activities, as approved by the CUPFA Executive Committee, which
are consistent with the objectives of the CUPFA.
- Collaborative development of applications or content.
UNACCEPTABLE USES
- UNACCEPTABLE ACTIVITIES - Activities that do not conform to the purpose, goals, and
mission of the Department and to each user's authorized job duties and responsibilities.
The following list, although not all-inclusive, provides some examples of unacceptable
uses:
- Use of the network for any illegal purposes, including communications, to achieve
unauthorized access to systems, software or data, which violate any laws or regulations.
- Use for commercial or for-profit related activities.
- Use for private or personal business and/or gain.
- Any traffic, including Internet traffic, that uses CUPFA Web Site as a transit or
by-pass facility.
- Interfering with or disrupting network users, services, or equipment. Such disruptions
could include, but are not limited to, (1) distribution of unsolicited advertising or
messages, and (2) propagation of computer worms or viruses.
- Use of resources in a manner that infringes the CUPFA Copyright.
FINAL AUTHORITY
Responsibility for determining whether a planned use of the CUPFA Web Site is
acceptable rests with the Executive Committee of the CUPFA. The Executive Committee
reserves all rights and may deny access to CUPFA Web Site on any grounds. The Executive
Committee has final authority and will resolve any questions concerning this Policy or its
interpretation. They also reserve the right to monitor the network use from time to time.
Recurring violation of this AUP will lead to termination of the user's access privileges.
NOTICE OF CHANGE
This AUP is subject to revision. Users will be informed of any changes, but it is the
users' responsibility to ensure that use of the CUPFA resources conforms to the policies
currently in effect.
