Eva Brandl

Eva Brandl’s career as a visual artist spans over 30 years. Poetic notions of place and theatricality inform her work. Her installations take the form of large ensembles encompassing sculptural elements, drawings and photographic components. Her interest lies in finding ways to instill a dynamic rapport between sculpture and the photographed subject. Her current creations explore the evocative power of images in constructed settings. A ten year survey of her work  RAUM X 4 traversées/crossings was held at the Centre culturel de l’Université de Sherbrooke in 2010. Since the early eighties, she has exhibited widely in Quebec, in Canada and abroad. Her work is represented in major Canadian Museums and institutions as well as private collections. A co-founder of OPTICA gallery, she has been active in artist run centers in Montreal. She has lectured in several institutions across the country and participated in international symposiums; most recently on landscape architecture in Le symposium international des Jardins de Métis, Quebec. A long standing part/time Faculty in studio arts at Concordia University, she also teaches at Marianopolis College in Montreal.
